East Middlebury is a village within the town of Middlebury. E Midd is located 5 miles to the south and east of Middlebury "village". E Midd is home to Addison County Commission Sales (a cattle auction business), 3 small convenience stores, a church, post office, library, a b&B, and the Waybury Inn which you may recognize as the inn used in the opening shot of Newhart. There are also some other small business scattered about. The Middlebury River runs through town and the Middlebury Gorge, a popular swimming hole, is located at the east end of the village.
I took some photos (keep in mind I am not a professional photog!) on 7/7/07. If you have any questions, let me know!

The Middlebury-Brandon Gap area is known as one of the tuffest,
most brutal bicycle rides in the country. It is a bicycists version
of Everast or Kilamanjaro
