I suspect this Nor'easter is going to strip a lot of trees over the next 36 hours.

Not the best foliage season, but not the worst I guess.

Yup..I think this is going to be it.
I think the color this year west of 116 to the lake has been great. Better than last year IMO. Lots of bright colors and more reds than I remember from previous years.

We're at peak or just barely past here in the Champlain Valley.

I'm surprised to find that here in the NEK some maples are still in the process of "getting there" as far as color goes. But they're the exception as opposed to the rule. Maybe it's just me, but I think the overall foliage season has been a little longer than usual around here - not necessarily brighter, though. But yeah, today was probably the last good for many of us. I was out and about on foot for the better part of the day going door to door doing volunteer work (no, not election stuff) and it was pretty darned nice. Folks were downright cheery today.

Next up: That part of autumn with bare trees and skies of steel gray. Even a sunny day will seem pale and the wind will take on a more business-like demeanor. But I enjoy those days too. It won't be winter for some time yet. When the lakes start to freeze over, then we can talk about that.

Those are some of my favorite days. I don't know why, but I just enjoy them so much.

Mine too. To me, there's nothing like a crisp day in late fall.

our property has a lot of thin birch trees. i'd say every other year we have
a fluke october snowfall that makes the birch trees lean all the way to the ground because the trees can't take the weight of snow and leaves. my wife and I have to go out and knock off the snow and leaves. Most of the trees eventually spring up but we always seem to lose one or two. I don't mind trees losing their leaves around now or maybe a week . Snow and leaves can be a real problem.
