I heard something interesting on WPTZ weather this past May. Our area hasn't had an official heatwave since 1993. An official heatwave is three days in a row with temperatures 90 or above. The weather guy said we've had a lot of two day streaks and even some three out of four day streaks, but no three day streaks since 1993.

I find this hard to believe.

We'll get one this week for sure.

I'm melting . . . melting!

Not really. I'm indoors with the AC where I shall remain until this passes. Went out yesterday. Felt nauseated until bedtime. Ugh.

I hope everyone makes sure their nonhuman family members have a cool place to stay and access to water.

We have no air conditioning. My dogs are looking at me like "what the heck is going on?". Fortunately our basement offers temporary relief, but then it's torture when you come back upstairs.

This is a lesson for Vermonters who complain about our "hot and humid summers". This is what most people deal with every summer for the majority of days.

You people should be grateful you have warm, sunny temperatures after the miserable summer you had last year (actually, some said it wasn't even a proper summer). It wreaked havoc with vegetable gardens all over the Northeast, causing serious blight to a variety of crops. By mid-summer, most people had to just pull out all their tomatoes plants, and call it quits.

By contrast, we here on the West coast have been having a cooler than normal summer, and our spring was horrific. I have been battling all manner of plant diseases and pests this year that I never had before, and I'm sure it is due to the odd weather.

Poor dogs! For once the basement can be more like a reward. I wish our basement was finishable. Maybe I'll go play with the cats down there, as they seem to love the filthy basement. At least it's cool.

Ugh, I remember what it felt like growing up in Florida. I finally left SFla for good when I moved to NH in 1988, just in time for a sweltering summer. I kept moaning (and still repeat often): "I didn't leave Miami for this!" Guess I should have applied for work at McMurdo Station.

Well we bought our first A/C 15 years ago after a stretch of days like this/no relief. Was the last one on the shelf that day, one of those things you hope you never have to use it but it's nice to have.
And BOY were our Pets happy!!!!!!!

Bought our second a/c last week in anticipation of this week, were concerned the other older one might not survive this week lol,,so just to be safe.

I grew up with a dry heat and this ain't it lol.

We've got a 17 year old. She seems to be ok.

Pretty much sleeps all day whether it's 10 below or 100 above.
