The housing market in Vancouver is ridiculous!!!
The prices are too high and I need to move to another city.
Anywhere in N. America would be good...somewhere with the following:
- good weather
- nightlife
- low crime
- affordable housing
- culturally diverse
- good job opportunities

Give us more details.
Define good weather.
Define affordable housing.
What job opportunities are you particularly seeking?
good weather = I like Vancouver weather but wouldn't mind a little less rain. Not too fond of harsh winters so I think the East is out of the question.
affordable housing = I like to be in or near the downtown region but don't want to pay 500k for a small studio. It'll be great if I can get a nice condo (1 BR and den) for 250k in or near the downtown core. Is this possible?
culturally diverse = I love Vancouver for its mix of people and culture. I want the same in the new city
job opportunities = I'm in the software industry so this is the field thats most important for me
Calgary is colder in the winter than Vancouver but it's also warmer in the summer, if you want to stay in Canada then the further East you go, the colder it gets.... well maybe not Nova Scotia but that's faaaarrr away.
I know Calgary is expensive but not as bad as Vancouver.
How about Kelowna or Victoria? Expensive too but, again not as bad as Vancouver and the weather is pretty good.
Otherwise, I think it's the US for you - cheap and warm (if you go south) just watch out for the medical expenses
I'll second the Austin, TX recommendation. Fits all of your criteria, if you can handle hot summers. Winter, spring, and fall are like Vancouver summers.
Check out Calgary. Taxes here are the lowest in Canada. Things are expensive here but, in general, pay rates are commensurate. A nice, but not luxurious, 1 bed + den condo downtown should run you $300K - $350K.
Austin is great for cost of living but pay rates are pretty low in comparison. An average job in Calgary that pays $65K/yr would probably pay $35K - $40K/yr in Austin.
I have always found disposable income to be best in expensive cities.
