Miami is currently building a extension of it's Metrorail system to Miami International airport and it is being financed only with state & local funds. The extension is 2.5 miles I believe and the county is awaiting Fed approval for another 9.5 mile extension on the proposed North line that would take Metrorail to the Dade/Broward county line.

Ohio is the perfect state for a rail project like this. They should have done it a long time ago.

I hope it passes.

The Atlanta Beltline is a planned LRT urban loop around the city that connects to 4 existing MARTA subway stations. It also includes a parks and trails component that has been underway for a couple of years. The LRT will run on abandoned rail lines, most of which have already been purchased.

I believe Austin TX has the newest. Salt Lake and Minneapolis are rather new. I do no know if the line in Honolulu has a chance of being finished.

I'm really excited about the New Haven - Springfield line. They're also renovating the Vermonter north of Springfield. I'm hoping the train travel time to NYC will be competitive.
