Carers allowance and Attendance allowance (pay, pension, state)

Hello,

I have just found out that my parents are only receiving the state pension and a tiny personnel pension, i have just done the benefits advisor and it said they should be getting a lot more than this namely attendance allowance and carers allowance as they are riddled with arthritis and heart problems and one has emphysema, my question is there are 2 rates of attendance allowance do you need to get the higher rate to get carers allowance or is it either of them.

Yes there are 2 different rates of pay out. Are your parents recieving DLA? Or have they applied for DLA in the past?
From your description, your parents are on the lower pay rate, but that will be decided by the assesment, i would advise you seek an appointment ( use form below ) asap, as your parents probably will have to taken by ambulance.
