I have ALWAYS maintained that the herpes "epidemic" of the 1970s was simply a precursor to the AIDS "epidemic" of the 1980s, that the government used the herpes as a trial run to evaluate transmission patterns so that when they developed a more fatal version, they could target one or more specific demographic groups.
The article does not state a link. It says the same drug used to treat herpes can slow the progression of HIV. Huge difference. The same antibiotics cure many bacterial diseases, which are unrelated to each other.

How does any of that help to prove your conspiracy theory? It doesn't. Even if there is a connection between herpes and AIDS it doesn't mean the government developed them and spread them on purpose. Not to mention the fact that most gays were in the closet back in the 70s/80s. Most were married as part of their cover and therefore would have spread herpes and AIDS to their spouse because those marriages weren't all celibate. What kind of 'test' would they have gotten from those demographics?
Both herpes and HIV are viruses as well as the common cold-a rhinovirus. Viruses are essentially clumps of DNA ( ie herpes virus, hep A, C, D) or RNA (ie HIV, rhinovirus, influenza) that cannot live on their own, and need a host for survive and thrive, in other words, cellular parasites. Because of the way they reproduce in a hosts body, they tend to mutate readily. Why don't you think there has ever been a true cure for the common cold? Answer: viral mutation.
Viruses do not respond to antibiotics at all, which should only be used for bacterial infections. In fact the use of antibiotics for viral infection is leading to a very serious problem of antibiotic resistance bacteria, as these strains of bacteria have "learned" to survive despite the use of antibiotics.
There are a number of drugs that do reduce the effects of viruses by interrupting their reproduction inside their host, but in the case of HIV, it never truly leaves its host, only more or less goes dormant.
Since viruses have been with us along before governments, I rather doubt that any conspiracy is involved.

Truth be told in what you have said. Can you believe how much different things are now for Gays then the 70s/80s. Most were in the closet back then, and some did indeed marry. I don't want to imagine that the government developed and then spread them on purpose. I think we need acutal factual truth.

HiV came from monkeys. This proves my theory that bananas cause HIV. Or flinging feces. Then again, with all the feces flingin' that goes on in this forum, it's just a matter of time before we're all infected.
