Hi!
I was laid off temporarily from my job in Los Angeles, California due to COVID-19. A few people in my apartment building were getting sick, so I drove to a small town in Nevada to be with my mom for safety. ( I have an underlying health issue as well) I requested for the postal service to forward my mail and also filed a claim.
I have never applied for Unemployment, and EDD sent a letter to my Los Angeles address that said I needed to verify my identity within 10 days or I am denied. I never got that letter until finally my landlord checked my mail and it was too late. They also delivered to wrong mailbox, so my neighbor ended up giving it to her. I also got a denial notice and an appeal form to fill out.
I filled out the appeal form and also sent in the required identity document and my appeal is set for mid-May. Here's my question...
I filed on MARCH 15th, and I still have not received any money! It will probably be June before I get anything... If I win my appeal, will I get all of the money from March, April and May? It mentions having to file claims weekly, but I am unable to do that since I don't have an account number yet. I tried to file a new claim, but it says my current claim is still pending, and I can't manage my claim because I don't have an account number. I tried e-mailing for my account number, and they said they can't give me that until I am approved for benefits... so how am I supposed to file a claim weekly if I can't access my notifications?
What are your thoughts on this? Will I get the pandemic money as well? Am I entitled to the back pay? Please help. Scared I won't get anything
I tried calling everyday and nobody takes my calls.
