Hello there!

I am hoping that someone can give me some solid advice if they have been in the same situation!

I accepted an offer letter/ passed a background check to work PT at an essential store. My start date is set for the 28th of this month and I am considering declining. I read on the EDD site that the employer reports you to the New Employee Reg AFTER your start date and if they leave then the employer only needs to report if they have been paid/ had their start date. I am thinking because I have not started yet that I will be fine if I do not take the job after all. However, I am wondering if I should call and tell them I have a better offer or just go radio silent and not show up on the first day? I am thinking I should call since they have called trying to schedule orientation for me.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
