I'm not sure how to go about applying for benefits in California. I work part time on a W2 and I am self-employed full-time (1099) but I haven't made any sales yet and that job has been put on hold due to COVID-19. My last employer was a year ago and I used up my unemployment benefits.
I'm still trying to get through to someone at EDD but no luck yet. Wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and what have you done?
Miss Pip, have you OR ANYONE in this same situation found any more info/answers since you started this thread?
Now, I have made some money w/ my little 1099 (part-time) jobs too as w/ my W2 (on-call/unpredictable schedule) job, so that's the only difference I think you & I have.
So how did you apply for unemployment? I'm planning to apply on SAt., 4/25 when it's my last day of my W2 job, which is seasonal so there will be work again, but I want to apply sometime soon here!

My part-time library job just furloughed all of its PT employees. I still work full-time and haven't been furloughed yet. I wasn't going to collect from the library. I probably wouldn't get UI anyway since I still have a full-time job.
So I assume you'll KEEP the 1099 job in which when you report what you made from that job when certifying on the EDD site, you'll just get paid less since you're still making some money (w/ the 1099 job).
That's what I plan to do too now that I've been approved for UI.
