My fiancé is laid off due to Covid. He filed last week and just received his Statement of Reported wages and Monetary Eligibility. It’s states he is only getting $430 a week. We thought the federal stimulus added $600 to the minimum. His regular quarterly income is $20-$30k. $400 a week ain’t going to cut it...

How do you get the $600 additional?

If he qualifies for UI benefits he will see the $600 also.

He qualified for the Maryland but they mentioned nothing about the $600. Which even with the $600, he is short about $900 in weekly wages.

Unemployment isn't going to cover 100% of a person's weekly wages. The exception to the rule is the lower income people where the extra $600 in federal pandemic money will push them over what they made when they were working.

Imagine that... making more on UI than you made working. It's happening right now for a lot of people... but still isn't worth the hassle of having to find a new job and possibly even take a pay cut.

Article was dated 4/10 and excerpt from it:

The state plans to start a new Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, or a “600+ Program,” by the end of next week, said state Department of Labor Secretary Tiffany Robinson.

Under the program, everyone eligible for unemployment benefits ending the week of April 4 will get an extra $600 every week on top of their current benefits. They will get the extra money on the day they usually get their benefits.
