One more quick question. Who is the opposing party at the hearing for a case like this? Will the state send a rep to the hearing to uphold their side of the case? How does a hearing work if I am not going up against the employer but the UIA? Thanks again for all of your help.

It could just be you and the judge, or they might send the person that made the decision. However, rely on your advocate. While we do know lots here, we don't know everything. Someone in MI that's been through this before is going to serve you well.

I received (re)determination on the 23rd stating "You are ineligible for benefits under MES Act, Sec. 28(1)(a) beginning November 13, 2016 and continuing until this condition no longer exists. You will not receive benefit payments during this period."

I immediately went to michworks to register, after which i filed a protest. In that protest I included proof of my new registration but I was honest as to the reason for my tardiness. I just now received the decision of that protest,

"The new or additional evidence provided warrants a modification in the previous determination. The previous determination is modified. Good cause for late registration has not been established.
You are ineligible for benefits under MES Act, Sec. 28(1)(a) beginning November 06, 2016 through
December 31, 9999. You will not receive benefit payments during this period"

My question is, can I win an appeal for this case? I was late registering, and I have no excuse beyond misreading the date. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time.
How long did it take the appeal? I been waiting a few days. I didn't Register with Michigan Works because they sent all my stuff to my old address.

I filed for MI Unemployment, received determination of eligible for benefits. So I began following steps, certifying online and/or by MARVIN phone system, and then creating a job seeker profile on MiTalent.org. I called local Mi Works office and was told just come to verify.

I recently had a stroke and suffer from PTSD triggered by racial intimidation at work. Maybe increased meds or stress or stroke had me confused BUT I registered for work IN-PERSON 2
days late, rendering me "ineligible for benefits."
I filed protest, with PTSD diagnosis and medical notes for increased meds and asked Mich Unemployment to please reconsider.

What are my chances this will be fixed?

Much worse now. Your PTSD and Medical records just makes you look not "able and available" for work.

You should have gotten help BEFORE you did stuff on your own. At a minimum, you could have gotten benefits on a going forward basis starting from when you did meet all the requirements, but now that you tried to play the sympathy card, you're probably going to have to go to a doctor now and get a diagnosis that you're "cured," and only then can you start getting UI payments.

The real lesson here is NEVER EVER BE LATE WITH UI REQUIREMENTS. The few minutes you save being late is nothing compared to the work or cost you have to do to fix it.

Hard to say. As Chyvan pointed out, you may have created a medical issue on your claim. If you're telling them you have medical issues that interfered with you following the requirements, how do they know it's not interfering with you seeking, accepting or able to work?

I certified 4 days late and I'm protesting but I'm sure I will lose and then I will appeal like you suggested with an advocate so I have two questions, how do I get in touch with an advocate and can I dismiss my entire case and file brand new?

Most states have started extending the deadlines. Just go through the appeal process
