I'm posting here because I can't get through to the unemployment office via phone.
I applied for unemployment in California. I received an award amount of $0.00 because I don't qualify for the base period. My question is do I need to do anything to apply for the alternate base period?
Assuming you haven't made a typo and are, in fact, discussing earnings January-April 2013, your application is way too late to qualify for any CA base periods used at this time, which are:
Standard Base Period - July 2013-June 2014
Alternate Base Beriod - October 2013-September 2014
You needed to have applied for benefits in June 2014 latest - at which time base period would be January 2013-December 2013 - and would include earnings for the period you mention.
