I am returning to work 9/2 after being laid off 6/9. There was no misconduct involved, and I've received benefits beginning 6/29 which was the date of my claim. My first attempt to file on 6/10 via web was not successful ( a glitch that I was not aware of) which I realized and which prompted me to file again on 6/29.
My question is. I didn't receive benefits for the weeks of 6/9, 6/16 and 6/23. Could I collect for this period of time even though I am rtw 9/2, and my date of claim was 6/29? I would have received benefits during those weeks but not for me unknowingly filing late.
Can you prove that you filed on 6/9 and things went wrong? Did you do anything to request backdating before now? It's for these reasons that things probably won't go well for you, but you can certainly try. If you succeed, please come back and brag about it, and tell us step by step everything you did.
Backdating can be a bit of mystery, and very state specific. For example, my state used to say on the online application "if you require backdating, do not file this application. You must speak with a claims representative." Then the rep would take your application over the phone, put in a request for backdating, and you would then either be approved or sent a denial with appeal rights. Now, they don't say that, and I have no idea how to ask for it anymore.
Also, so you say things better, UI is usually SUN to SAT, so your references to weeks are off. Had you done things right from the beginning, you'd have received a partial benefit for week ending 6/14, and full benefits for 6/21 and 6/28.
