My UI expires as of 8/23/14 and I would like to file for an extension, as have not found a job yet. How do I go about doing this? If it is possible to file for an extension do they base $$ on a new quarter or the same quarter for for my initial filing? I believe I have exhausted the initial filings $$ for that quarter. Thank you to anyone that has the answers to these ?

Read this - a link on the FIRST PAGE of the EDD website:

New Developments on Federal Unemployment Extensions and Benefit Cuts

CA has one of the best websites of any state. Anyone collecting unemployment or disability benefits owes it to themself to take hour or two to explore and learn.

The best way to file an extension is to visit your local EDD branch in your town. Tell the receptionist at the front that you want to use the phone to speak to the EDD customer service rep and ask question(s) about the extension. Tell the rep that you are interested in filing the extension and you are still trying your best to look for a new career.

I cannot guarantee that EDD will approve your extension but it wouldn't hurt to apply. I have done filing an extension before back in 2009. I didn't have any problems because I was unemployed, and filed the claim form on time.

Good Luck.

is an excellent thing to do if it is your goal to waste time and gasoline - only to be told, yet again:
