This is great news. Sorry for the 99ers though. It looks like that will never happen.

I wouldn't quite rule out a Tier V just yet. Bernanke says things don't look good plus the national rate just went up. We shall see.

It may be great news but it still isn't certain. The article did point out that the dems may not entirely approve of this deal as it allows the extension of the tax cuts for the wealthy, something they were not happy about. Although I think this is as good as anyone is going to get because we know that there is no way in hell that republicans will approve further extensions of UI without "paying for it".

So, 7 plus MILLION 99ers are LESS worthy of benefits than someone who has been out of work 4 months? This is a travesty.

MAYBE they'll add something in for 99ers when it actually comes before Congress for passage, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, this is very good for those that will be helped by it. And there will be many, so I am happy that this compromise has happened so quickly.

I will be a "99'er" in a few very short weeks, so it will not help me. But I have not lost hope for Tier 5 or similar. This 13 month extension is acknowledgment that this is not going away any time soon. Hopefully a Tier 5 or some similar sort of help for the "99'ers" will be the next step.
