Do I state that I have a temporary or permanent work the next time I claim weekly UI benefits. I am still owed one more week of UI. I am thinking that I should not consider this full time work because I am not receiving health insurance or benefits and can quite possibly be let go within three months. I have been working since Monday and it was mentioned to me both yesterday and today, so that is why I am concerned about my UI benefits.

38 hours or more is full time. Regardless of benefits etc. A lot of people are part time and work 40 hrs a week with no benefits. Its called walmart

I worked 40 hours per week for a large school district and had no benefits except for paycheck. I wasn't permanent, I was hourly, and there are lots of companies out there that give you 40 hours and no benefits. It has nothing to do with Walmart.

Yes you claim it. And WalMart pays benefits to all full time workers.

That was an example. Just because you arent permanent and have no benefits doesnt mean you arent employed full time. I worked for a time WHILE on unemployment. They said if I work 38 hrs or more I am disqualified from any benefits. Its done on a week by week basis. If you work 39 hrs one week you get no benefits. If you work 30 hrs another week you MAY get benefits.

Lets assume you normally get 300 a week for unemployment. Lets assume you make 280 dollars in a week at your job. Unemployment will give you the difference ($20). If you make OVER 300 you are also disqualified. In conclusion: you get NO benefits if you make OVER your normal allowance OR if you work 38 hrs or more.

The definition of full time (so far as UI is concerned) has NOTHING to do with benefits. Its all about the number of hours worked.

Actually walmart has discontinued benefits from many full time workers.

What I'm asking is if I should fill in that I have received a permanent or temporary position when I apply for weekly benefits. I think I should consider it a temporary position as far as UI in NJ is concerned in case I am let go, so then I can resume collecting my benefits. I will indicate that I will be working 40 hours.

I dont think that is correct, At least in the Michigan UI book it stated that generally 40 hours was considered full time. I dont believe they are asking if the job is temporary or not. Here it just asks if you have full time work. They dont call it permanent. As we all know by now there is no such thing as a permanent job anymore.
It shouldn't be a problem to resume collecting your benefits as long as you dont quit the job.

It is temporary. If you select temporary it will have you fill in the hours worked and how much you made gross, then it will determine if you get anything. If you select permanent you wont be given any option. You just lose benefits. At least thats how the PA site worked.
