Original era. Loved that they basically said that ghosts weren't real, that shifty property owners weren't to be trusted, and that you can walk into any place and raid the fridge without much consequence.
The newest version is ok - way better animated and actual plot and character arcs, but they are often actually fighting real ghosts, which in my opinion takes away a lot of the charm.
Definitely the original cartoons. Although my kids and I enjoyed some of the new movies they did like: Scooby Doo and the Alien Invasion, Zombie Island and Cyber Chase.
Those are okay too. The monsters turn out to be real in those.

Ha ha...
I thought I wouldn't feel that way (if the monsters were "real") but you are right, it does remove some of the charm.
I liked the "guest star" ones! I was only a little kid back then, so it kind of taught me a little about pop culture from that time. I probably would never have known who Jonathan Winters or Phyllis Diller were otherwise.
The originals were my favourite followed by the guest star ones. I have the originals on DVD and watch them with my dog. LOL not really..that's weird... I don't ha ha.... (I do)
