What is your favorite Soap Opera Star of all time. I'll have to go with Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) mainly because I started watching All my Children from when she started. I like her character and felt she put a lot into the role. Also, she seems like a lovely person in her real life

Ps please do not include reality shows (yuck)

It's a tie. Elizabeth Hubbard as "Lucinda Walsh" or Scott DeFreitas as "Andy Dixon" on ATWT.

Christopher Bernau as Alan Spaulding on the Guiding Light. My college roommate and I loved to watch him.

This is tough for there are so many good actor/actresses out there. On my top list would be Susan Lucci playing Erica Kane AND David Canary playing Adam...both from All My Children.

That's a tough one. I have a lot of respect for older actors like Peggy McCay - she's in her 80s and still plugging away as best she can on Days of Our Lives, starting her career more than 60 years ago when TV daytime dramas were in their infancy.

Here's a link to a 1953 episode of Love of Life (complete with commercials), with Peggy McCay (the woman who answers the phone) as Vanessa Dale:

Other favorites from days gone by: Erika Slezak, Gillian Spencer, James Mitchell, Phil Carey, Kate Mulgrew, Helen Gallagher. But I'd be remiss if I didn't include David Selby as Quentin Collins on Dark Shadows.

Of current soap actors, I'd count Peter Bergman, Laura Wright, Jane Eliot and Alison Sweeney among my favorites. And Wally Kurth - it's great that I get to see him sometimes on General Hospital, sometimes on Days of Our Lives.

Easy peasy -- Charita Bauer, who played Bert Bauer (Bertha) on Guiding Light from the radio days -- 1950 -- till her death in 1985.

She was THE BEST.

I have many favorites, but I wanted to point out Robin Mattson. Considering the fact that she was a recast for several popular characters and made them her own, I find that outstanding. Characters like Heather Webber on GH, Gina on Santa Barbara, and Janet Green on AMC.

This is a tough one--my favorite soap opera was "Port Charles," but for favorite star I'd have to give it to Taylor Miller, playing Nina Cortlandt in "All My Children." She lit up the screen every time she was on.

I second that. Too bad they made her such a nutbag on GH. I still really enjoy her performances.

I also really liked David Canary, Erika Slezak and Roger Howarth.

One of my all time favorites was Louis Edmunds of DS and AMC.
