HT,
Monkey Island is on Grand Lake, about 60 miles away from Tulsa in Deleware County. I'll see if I can scrounge up some pics. My Internet connection is running s-l-o-w today for some reason so I can't get any right now.

I have some scenery shots that were taken in SE Oklahoma, not sure this would be the appropriate site to post these ..Thanks for these gorgeous pictures here.
Thanks Nez. You can post those in the "Oklahoma Pictures" sticky thread. I'm sure everyone would love to see them. I think I put these pictures here before that thread was a sticky.

Nice pics. I went over the Arkansas river a few days ago and it's so depressing cause after a long, wet summer it's been so dry lately and there's not much water running right now. The river looks 1,000 times better when it's flowing.

Nameless this actually occurs quite often. In fact an artist by the name of David Phelps from OKC created a sculpture to play on the idea. His technique involves cracking the service and breaking the plane. Which imitates the cracked surface of the river when it completely dries up. The city of Tulsa just wanted to show a historical fact of life but it was not well taken by its citizens. Great professional artists live in OKC and usually are commisioned to do most of the public art in Oklahoma. OU is very close to OKC and is the only research institute in Oklahoma for the fine arts so maybe that could explain why.
Here is his website...

I thought there was always water in the Arkansas River, but it is just under all the sand. Same look, though.

Many rivers drie up. The Arkansas river is no Mississippi River which is in constant flow. But it has a great history and has many connections...
Colorado feeds the Arkansas river with water but because of global warming the snow caps have decreased which has led to less water flow

That was an interesting link about the amount of cargo that is carried on the Arkansas.

Here is a link that tells how the Arkansas River has been important in American history.

You definately take wonderful pictures. I think that they represent the best of Tulsa. Have you thought about going around and taking pictures of all the penguins that benefited the Tulsa Zoo? I think that would be a wonderful addition to your photos. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent.
