Although I am not pregnant yet, my husband and I are wanting to start trying to have children in the next year or so. I really want a natural childbirth, but do not want to do it at home. There are no birthing centers in Tulsa, which is very disappointing. Can someone recommend a good Ob/gyn that would be supportive of a natural childbirth and allowing a Doula to assist in Tulsa? I would like to start going to the doctor that we will use so that we can establish a relationship with them.

Dr James Ross delivered my daughter. He was perfectly OK and encouraged our choice of natural childbirth. He is not an OB/gyn, he is a MD. He is now our family doctor and we are to going to use his services for our 2nd child as well.

I can also recommend a Doula. Highly recommend. Kathy Taylor. I cannot begin to tell you how much she helped. I would for sure use a Doula, for sure. We used the Bradley Method. She is a certified Bradley Method teacher. We took the 12 week (IIRC) course. You can locate her through the following link.
The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth

We are now doing it all over again with our 2nd pregnancy and we are going to do everything the same.

Good luck, Natural Childbirth is a great choice. Become informed and ask questions. DM me if you would like more info.

Thank you very much for the resources. I looked up Kathy and she sounds fantastic. We are going to start trying to conceive this summer. Fingers crossed!

Kim Kmita through Southcrest is a WONDERFUL midwife. She is currently seeing me for prenatal care and it took me months to find her. I am a little more intense with the natural childbirth, however, I believe in zero interventions (I wont even have an IV) and I will have my Doula present to ensure my birth plan stays in place.

Kim is EXTREMELY accepting of my views and all she cares about is the I'm eating healthy, taking my prenatal, exercising and preparing for birth. The rest of its up to me. She doesn't even require the every 4 week appointment as we are progressing normally. I would reccomend her to anyone, even if you opt for drugs.
