I was going through old pictures yesterday and found two I wanted to show to newcomers so they know what a good wildflower season is! These pictures were taken in '01.

The tech genius that I am , somehow I had the date and time and not the month and year on these pics. I remember it was in '01 by other things, but I'm not sure about the month. Must've been some time around March...

I love the Mexican poppies. These were the most amazing carpets of flowers I've ever seen.

We came out for Spring Training in March of 2005 and the Poppies were amazing. They were truly a carpet of gold. It was mid-March. We haven't seen them like that since.

We were visiting my Mom in Tucson during spring break. My husband and I love to hike, and I remember all the wildflowers. I remember my Mom saying Picacho Peak area was full of blooms during that time.

Wow! Thanks, Sierra. I was feeling kind of down in the dumps today but your picture brought my spirits right up Even put it on my desktop! We've been working on our move to AZ for over a year but like many others still trying to sell our place here in hot, muggy and buggy Florida! A great photo!!

Glad you like them. The funny thing is I was following directions to get to some other wildflowers and took the wrong road. Boy, did it turn out to be the RIGHT road!

I was on Old Nogales Highway going towards Madera Canyon when I took Santa Rita Rd. (it becomes a dirt road after a while) by mistake and after driving on it for a while I noticed these huge yellow spots. At first I wasn't even sure it was poppies. Was hard to believe! Every year it's different, though. This spring I went to this spot again, but there was nothing even close to spectacular... just some poppies here and there. Picacho Peak is pretty consistent in providing similar views (usually not quite), but I didn't feel like driving to it.
