Portland man, was at gas pump stole a partially filled gas can from a truck parked next to his own and began pouring it into his own car – the only problem was he was smoking a cigarette while he did so.

The gas caught on fire, burning his socks and pants and singeing his hair and eyebrows, police said. Suniville’s vehicle had to be towed away because it suffered fire damage. Police said the truck Suniville’s stole the gas from also suffered fire damage.

He was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, reckless burning and third-degree theft.

I see people smoking cigarettes while pumping gas all the time. It is a pretty standard white trash activity here in the Missouri Ozarks.

I usually wait until they are done pumping before I start. Or, sometimes I will just go to another pump. In the past I have actually left the station. Being immolated is not my idea of a fun time.
