Does one company cover the whole Tri-Cities?
I know there is no Comcast which is dissappointing.

We have Charter Communications, and it is similar in some ways to Comcast. In Pasco we have the company Direct Home Cable.

Charter has high speed internet bundles that are not bad for prices. You can also get high speed internet in Kennewick from the electricity provider Benton PUD. Satellite internet is available through Dish Network. In West Richland I know that you can get Verizon high speed internet.

The utilities all over the tri-cities are different. It is kind of strange. The power company in Kennewick is different than the power company in West Richland.

Yes I forgot about ClearWire. Clear wire is available in most areas and even when you are on the edge of town they have a PC Card service that works.

Yes, Clearwire, Charter (which is great for ISP), Verizon are available for the city of Richland, and for Kennewick and Pasco add Quest to the list, but they do not service Richland...I would take it in a heart beat but not available due to territory laws, I checked when I purchased a new house here....

Benton REA "PowerNet" covers most of West and all down the valley where I live. They are a little spendy at around $60/month but are reliable, and provide good customer service. Clearwire IMHO is about the best deal, plus you can take it with you like a cell phone. What's so special about Comcast (sincere question, not having used them!)

No Borders but do have Hastings and Barnes & Noble - I don't see *that* much difference between these. Also have Sheddes & Peasant locally owned new/used book store, where one can find more interesting stuff than at the big chains anyway.

No Trader Joe's, true, and the closest thing is Yoke's, who are good in their own right but are not Trader Joe's.

If you go to the Trader Joes website you can request that they open a store in the Tri-cities area. The more people who do, the more apt they are to open. Of course, someone can always take on a franchise of Trader Joes.

In ten years time all the stores you want will have made their home in the Tri-cities. That is what happend when I lived in CA. Small town grew into something very different with everything under the sun. Just give it time.
