I found a great deal online - 2 round trip tickets from FL to NJ for $300 and I'm wondering if anyone has booked with Spirit before? This will be my first time booking airline tickets online but with all the stories about scam and theft I want to be sure before I put my information on the web.
I have never flown them but my family uses them a lot to fly to the Caribbean and they never had a problem with booking. My aunt had one bad experience with them because she missed her flight and they made her pay for a new ticket. I have booked all my airline tickets online for the past 6+ years and I have never had a problem with theft.
My cousins use Spirit Air all of the time. They have never had any problems with the company or flights. I've always booked online and have not experienced identity theft.
I have flown Spirit with my entire family twice. My warning is if you have anything of value carry it with you. Spirit stole over $2,000.00 of my personal property after I had left it in their care and custody and after I had checked it in at the ticket counter. To add insult to this horrible theft it took almost six months to even get an offer from Spirit which was an insulting $38 for my loss.

This is sound advice for ANY airline you fly.
My personal rule: Don't take along expensive items but if you must, ALWAYS hand carry it. I carried a tower style computer with me in a big vinyl carry-on bag once. PITA but I wasn't willing to risk having it stolen.
I have heard Spirit has a few things they add on AFTER you put in your credit card information. For example, you put in your credit card on one webpage and they run that information. The next page is where they allow you to pick seats, but at Spirit it costs money to preselect seats and they do not tell you this until after you put in your credit info. For some people, this was a deal breaker and when they wanted to switch to an airline not charging for selecting seats and they could not because Spirit ran the credit card beforehand.
