Backpack - Tumi

Carry On - Away

Checked Luggage - the most conspicuously colorful hard case I can find at e.g. TJ Maxx/Nordstrom Rack/whatever at a decent price.

The amount of money I spend on each item is directly related to how long it stays under my custody/on my person on a typical trip.

My kid uses something called Briggs and (Riley?). He's a pilot and needs something really sturdy. I find it comical that the name label says: "Not Yours".

Since I travel exclusively by RV, I stick to cheapo Walmart brands. It only has to make it up the stairs to the bedroom, where I unpack into the closets and med-cabinet. I use softsided so I can ball it up and throw it into a drawer once empty.

We use luggage in case we ever need to pack up and leave the RV behind for some reason. If we had a wreck or serious breakdown I'd hate to be lugging our stuff in walmart bags.

Briggs and Riley is basically the correct answer to this question with regards to check in bags.

larger carry ons I have a touch more flexibility. I have peak design, and also AER

I think I’ve seen ‘Not Yours’ at Airport Tag, which sells all kinds of fun aviation-related stuff-

When I was travelling a lot (2-3 times a month) I used mainly Travelpro - currently it is Tumi.

Generally North Face Base Camp bags. A little heavy, but rugged and very water resistant (basically waterproof).

I bought my two big check ins at TJ Max and my two carry on's at Amazon. I think they're called Amazon basics

Love Red Oxx. My main travel bag is the Red Oxx Air Boss, which is the max size bag eligible for carry-on. For my small carryon, I use an old LLBean backpack, but that thing is nearing the end of its days, so I will likely invest in a smaller Red Oxx to fill that niche.

I haven't checked a bag since 2013.

With Red Oxx it's buy once and cry once. Their bags are nearly indestructible. Ditto Briggs & Riley for checked bags. I think Briggs & Riley can afford to offer their lifetime warranty because it's so unlikely the customer will ever need it.

Tom Bihn also makes some nice high-quality carryon bags - and I love their Absolute Strap, which I use on my Osprey Porter 46. it doesn't slip and is easy on the shoulders.
