I saw it listed on Trivago and it seems to be owned in Europe (maybe Italy?) the refund policy info was listed in pounds or lyra or something other than dollars. Many reviews of the site are horrible... people saying they were ripped off and could not get the money back. Does anybody actually use it?

Nope, never would either. I always book direct for all travel, especially in Covid times.
