My visit was before COVID (hopefully temporarily) changed things.
Ah yes. Been many times. Wandered around there after the border sealed up c. Mar-April '20. Not a heckuva lot going on at the time, a unique inflection point in history. Fair amount of security around, yes. My "papers are in-order" and I've not crossed on foot into Canada there, it's pointless for me.
The border is a ditch at the park. I call it "the Friendship Ditch!"

I'm viewing this thread at 175% in the Edge browser on my 'Apple year' 2015 (new in 2016) MacBook Air.
When I clicked on this page, the screen was completely filled with my post and the first paragraph of your post above ^^^^^.
I read the first paragraph of your post, and the first thought that popped into my head.....
The border is the ditch that parallels the road.
I then scrolled down to continue reading your post.......

Yes, I did. Lots of times.
From Italy to Switzerland, from Italy to Austria, from Austria to Switzerland… whilst hiking and/or climbing through the Alps.
I also crossed the French- Spanish border on foot in two different points: along the Mediterranean coast from Port Bou to Cerbère and in the Pyrenees near Puigcerdà .
Several mentions here of State Line Road in Kansas City.
State Line ends in far south Kansas City, and a beer distributor built a warehouse that straddles the state line. I’m sure liquor laws had something to do with it.
Just southwest of Joplin, MO, on the MO/OK/KS state line, the Downstream Casino is in Oklahoma, their parking lot is in Kansas, and their gas station/mini mart is in Missouri, which has the lowest gas taxes of the three states.
I didn't wantt to point that out, but the coriolus effect is very weak, and even in Canada, the water will swirl whatever direction it gets a head start, often depending more on the shape of the sink.
I've crossed the IL/IN border on the south side of Chicago into Hammond, numerous times. Mostly via car, but I have biked acrossed that border, walked across that border, and taken the South Shore Line train crossing the IL/IN border numerous times. And yes some businesses near the border, are designed to take advantage of the disadvantages of both states. On the Indiana side there are numerous businesses advertising cheaper cigarettes, fireworks(sale isn't legal in IL, but of course a lot of people quietly ignore that law lol, especially near July 4th), and lower taxes on ___(whatever) various things, since you know IL taxes products up the wazoo. Though Illinois does have fully legal pot(and as far as I know, Indiana hasn't even gotten to the point of at least allowing medical marijuana), and some such businesses are located near the border to take advantage of people crossing over into Illinois for that. Some such businesses are over the Michigan border, and as I've heard it might be better for such people looking for that to cross into MI, for lower pot taxes on a side note.

US-Mexico in the 80s. Progreso - park the car on the US side, short walk into Nuevo Progreso.
Yes, very easy, hundreds of cars in the parking lot. I expect it is the same al Algodon, near Yuma.
