My husband and I will be flying from FL to NY on Frontier. It is much cheaper, faster, and less wear and tear on our vehicle. I understand about their personal baggage limit of 18x14x8. But I do have a few questions about the specifics since we haven't flown in a good 15 years.
Are you allowed to carry on health and beauty items like shampoo and conditioner?
Has anyone found the perfect bag to put clothes in? I'm very good and "filling" bags but I am always open to some helpful tips.
In terms of bags, I would go with a duffel that is as close to the size limits as possible. You don't want to sacrifice precious inches on things like wheels and retractable handles. It means you'll have to carry it the whole time, but at that size, it shouldn't be too heavy.
I have a Vera Bradly Weekender bag that I love that is 18 x 12.5 x 7.75. Just be careful not to overpack it to the point that it is well beyond dimensions. And it's got a long strap so that I can comfortably carry it crossbody to distribute the weight better and take stress off of one side of my body.

Frontier... keep it small (goes at your feet, not overhead)
wear 3-4 sets of clothes NEVER make changes (thus I always fly SWA if possible (free changes / free bags, EZ FAST boarding))
I do buy some Frontier 'Bear Den' fares that I am willing to forego (Such as the $20 Frontier fares last week) 2,000 miles for $20.. I don't fret tossing the ticket if I decide not to go.
Last week Frontier wanted $75 to add my middle initial to my $20 fare so I could use TSA Pre... it was a red-eye flight, so no TSA Pre available. I took my shoes off (as usual, including (4) TSA pre's this week).
Pack light (buy what you need)
Expect crowds and delays (in summer)
You will be safe and have a decent experience if you start with low expectations and a desire to get on, GO and get off!
Be glad you are not driving! +/- (I love driving, but.. too many traveling miles during the last week, would have taken a month to drive it)
I would advise a sturdy backpack of the maximum dimensions. Take a tape measure to the store. Don't pack anything in outer pockets until you arrive. wear your coat if need be.
As others said, use a soft-wall bag. Backpack might be easier to cary than a duffel bag. Keep in mind that this bag will be under a seat in front of you, so if it’s soft then it’s easier around your feet and can be squeeshed a bit as needed.
We flew Frontier from Orlando last year. Their website had a wrong terminal (and no terminal on the ticket!), they have no signs at the airport. But a nice person helped us find them.
Their seats are like park benches but a 2 hr flight is survivable. Good luck!
Yea as long as your liquids are travel size and 3oz or less you're fine. You can bring as many as you want.
