Hi,
I am an F1-Visa Student in the US. I'll be flying overseas this summer, but at the way back, I have a 14 hour layover in Frankfurt. Every time I have a layover in Frankfurt, I pass through the transit area because my luggage goes straight to the US.
However, this time, I have a few German friends who wants to meet me at the Airport.
My question is can I leave the transit (pass through the border-control and customs) using my F1 Visa to meet them? Or Is there a way I can meet them without applying for a Schengen visa?

I'm pretty sure you can't. Your F-1 visa enables you to come back to the US to study, it doesn't enable you to enter another country visa-free. You'll need a Schengen visa (unless you're from a country that doesn't need a visa to enter the Schengen area of course).

I am from Tunisia.
Unfortunately, My country is listed in the countries whose citizens are required to obtain a Schengen visa.
So That's a no. Is there a way that they enter the transit area without the need to buy a plane ticket?
No. You need a visa, or they need to be a passenger.
