Where is Volendam? I travel to The Netherlands like I cross the street. The Dutch have an excellent train system, but it doesn't go everywhere. The extreme northeast is somewhat lacking in coverage. You can supplement that with buses or a taxi - taxi's aren't cheap however. I am not familiar with the bus coverage. One thing for sure - don't worry about language if you need instructions - everyone speaks English. You can also rent a car.
Here you go, Google is your friend, apparently it's not that far from Amsterdam:
By bus[edit]
Bus 312 and 316 {R-NET) run from Amsterdam Central Station to Volendam and back, approx. 35 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 3.90 EUR with OV-chipkaart.
Bus 110 (R-NET) runs from Station Purmerend to Volendam and back, approx. 35 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 3.01 EUR with OV-chipkaart.
To get to Volendam from Station Hoorn, take bus 314 (R-NET) and change to bus 316 (R-NET) in Edam, approx. 45 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 3.91 EUR with OV-chipkaart.

Volendam is a tourist trap and IMHO hardly worth visiting. Take a look at some other nice small cities outside Amsterdam like Haarlem (painters), Alkmaar (cheese), Hoorn or Enkhuizen. Or a bit to the south like Utrecht, Gouda, Delft or Leiden. All very beautiful old cities, easily reachable by rail from Amsterdam, with everything you would expect when visiting Holland.
If you want to go to Volendam From Amsterdam Central station ( Amsterdam Centraal IJzijde) there is a bus 312towards to Edam, you can take that bus it goes via Volendam, Also you can book a mini tours what bring you zaanse schans wind mills marken and volendam half day tours. check the link below. Also you can ask the reception where you stay they know about those too.
