i second cheapcaribbean.com, great bunch of folks.... i've booked through them a bunch of times and they have always been extremely helpful, once my plane was delayed and they called up the hotel to inform them etc. which I appreciated a lot.

To the OPs question - I suggest Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, pretty good place with great beaches. Another option is Riviera Maya - which is the stretch between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. Puerto Morelos is a small fishing village there which is particularly amazing if you want solitude with your new wife!

I could have sworn that part of the coast of Mexico was on the Gulf of Mexico which was part of the Atlantic, not Caribbean, but relooking at a map, Quintana Roo does look like it's on the Caribbean side of the peninsula. I stand corrected

Don't leave Florida. The rest of the Caribbean is not as nice as the Florida Keys.
