What airports do you think are closed
often? BOS and JFK recently shut down for a period of time due to weather...that sure isn't normal and can happen anywhere because of blizzards, hurricanes, etc. I recently flew back and forth through the upper Midwest in bitter subzero temps and snow...their airports didn't close. I fly regularly for business and I can assure you, there are no reasonably sized/well traveled airports that are closed often.
As mentioned above, the bigger issue is not getting the plane from Point A to Point B, causing a ripple effect. One weather event at a hub can ripple through the entire system lightning fast, which is why a Chicago blizzard can leave people stranded in Texas.
