yes, often you can pick up better deals by changing airports. Mid week is a given, but oftern the the traveler has a schedule...Anytime a traveler can stay away from Sunday or Friday they are better off. Saturdays, it depends on the distination.

But that involves going to dublin or even worse london. My dad is a thran 50 year old man. He refuses to fly any other way than from bfs to ewr so our choices are limited.

We have to please him. Yawnn

Those of us who travel regularly know we're not gonna get convenient, cheap, and high season.

Deal with it.

I'm older than your father and would travel a couple of hours or go through London to save a considerable amount of money. Fifty is not old, he needs to get out of the rocking chair.

Skyscanner gives me a direct BFS-EWR on (Thu) 7/18 (7/25 return trip) for £664. Not sure how you got £1200.

I'm a bit puzzled why your dad would only want to fly into Newark though.

Well we would be daft to goto America for a week, we aren't gonna do that. It usually around 15th to 15th.

He wants to do this because he has done it 3 times before and he finds it convenient. Nothing as great as going down the road 50 minutes getting on the plane and going to EWR instead of going down the road. Getting a 1 hour flight and waiting 3 hours to sit on a Longer flight.

He is tight (we are not poor we have more than enough money) and does not want to drive to dublin or fly to GB.

Yes £1200 was on mobile site, I have looked now and its £508 for 24th but that is too late. £595 would do.

I understand that he'd rather do a direct flight, I just wondered what was so special about Newark (vs JFK). If you're going to be in the US for a whole month, not sure why it matters where exactly you are flying in but I was just curious.

Not sure.

Because its the only one you can fly to.

My dad is a cheapskate anyway. Just showed him a villa for one month at £1900 and he says thats expensive. He thinks that you can goto florida and get respectable villas at £1000 a month. NOO

The funny thing is we can afford a villa much more than £1900. He goes on as we are poor and we are not, he has a friggen Vans plane for god sake.
