I'm planning on driving from miami to los angeles. I wondering if there was anything special I should stop and see? Here's my travel plan:

1. Home to Tallahassee, FL 500 mi, 8 hrs
2. Tallahassee, FL to New Orleans, LA 387 mi, 6 hrs
3. New Orleans, LA to Houston, TX 348 mi, 6 hrs
4. Houston, TX to Ozona, TX 400 mi, 6 hrs
5. Ozona, TX to El Paso, TX 346 mi, 5 hrs
6. El Paso, TX to Phoenix, AZ 430 mi, 7 hrs
7. Phoenix, AZ to Los Angeles, CA 372 mi, 6 hrs

Total = 2783 miles

If it were me, I would make a slight detour to visit Tuskegee, Alabama to visit the Tuskegee Institute - the home of the famous WWII Tuskegee airmen. Also Tuskegee is the birthplace of Rosa Parks (the civil rights activist).

I don't have suggestions for places to stop, however, I can tell you to be careful about sudden speed limit drops in LA, particularly around the NOLA and Baton Rouge areas. You will also hit lower speeds in the Lake Charles, LA area.

Also, be mindful of your fuel in TX, NM and AZ as you can sometimes go quite a few miles without fuel options. The speed limit from SATX to El Paso is 80 most of the way so you'll burn through fuel a little bit quicker so definitely keep an eye on that gauge and don't take any chances.

It sounds like you are going thru I-10 From FL to CA. You go through San Antonio on I-10-you might want to stop by and visit the Alamo and Riverwalk in San Antonio if you want.

You could spend a lifetime making that trip and not see all there is to see.
Heres a resource with a very good interactive map and the free brochure you can send away for is actually a book

Will you be anywhere near Carlsbad Caverns? The Grand Canyon? Zion?

I 10 the whole way? Get some good tunes. Driving across Texas is the most boring trip in the world. I would take a detour for Vegas...why not?

Are you looking to make stops based on places of interest or because you only want to drive six hours a day?

What time of the year are you making this trip?

Yup, I figured that 6 hours would be a good amount of time to drive without being too exhausted. I am driving this alone. I will be driving in March.

It will be more exhausting taking a full week to make the trip. After three days in the car you'll be so restless it will make you crazy.

Break it up into ~10 hour drives, stopping for a 10-15 minute break every 2-3 hours.

Day 1 Miami to Pensacola.
Day 2 Pensacola to Seguin, TX
Day 3 Seguin to Las Cruces, NM
Day 4 Las Cruces to LA.

Get a couple of audio books that will keep you interested. If you get tired, don't be afraid to stop and nap for 30 minutes.
