Hi, me and my family are heading to Austin Texas this August (from the UK) and we've hired a jeep/SUV to travel from Austin to Washington DC in 17 days. We haven't got an exact route picked yet but we are definatley heading Memphis, Nashville and checking out the Appalachian Mountains.

Does any have and advice/info on some places NOT TO DRIVE PAST WITHOUT VISITING!?

we want to make the most of this road trip and see as much as possible, we are very open minded and would appreciate any ideas!!! So excited!!

Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like fun.

I mapped a route so I could see what towns you would be going through.

Have a great time. There are so many fun and natural things to do along your way. For the other types of attractions I will have to let someone else help since I like nature best.

I would also send for this book. It is a great book that tells you what to find on each exit on all the US Interstates. It is very helpful when driving through the US States.

If it isn't too late... arrange to rent a different vehicle.
Jeeps and SUV's can hold more people but that is their only advantage on a long road trip.
