MANY more small car "small overlap" crash tests are available. Out of all of them, the Honda Civic was the only model to get a "good" rating. Dodge Dart received an acceptable, as well as a couple of others like the Ford Focus. The Kia's earned terrible ratings (at least as far as the structure ratings) in this new test, but received good ratings as far as injury ratings.

They didn't test the 2013 Corolla since a new 2014 model is coming soon. I hope that Toyota had a chance to see this new test, see the bad ratings they have had with the 2012-13 Camry and do a better job with the 2014 Corolla. The Scion seemed to have held up fairly well, but I think it had an airbag issue.

If you click on the far right box of each model (on the link below), it will show you the results, photos and a video of each of these tested.

I have been waiting on this test!! It pains me that it is not with a good report. I really wanted this car to do excellent in this test and Toyota show the automotive world that they can make a car that does very well in the small-overlap test. So far they haven't. (Unless the big Avalon or some of the Lexus would, but those haven't been tested).

Toyota FAILS again with the all-new Corolla (the structure got a poor rating)... shouldn't have been a surprise with its recent score with the new Camry/Rav4. It is a shame too, didn't they see how their other cars were performing and want to strive to make this a good performer?

I really love the looks of this car and thought about maybe getting one. Its a shame this all-new design didn't do so well. At least it did good in the moderate overlap.

New Civic in comparison...

Congrats to Toyota!!!! They decided to revise the new 2014.5 Camry and now it receives a much better rating in the IIHS small overlap test!!! It looks like the passenger compartment held up as well if not slightly better than the new Accord. Camry would have received a good rating if the side curtain airbag went further forward.

The new Highlander also did well! Toyota is moving in the right direction!!
