Does the new Yaris have a button of the key fob to open the hatch? Or do you have to manually open it each time?

Usually on cars of that style, it's operated like a door, and you need to open it each time, and it's not "poppable"

I was looking at more pics of the new Yaris on-line at cars.com tonight. Does the LE trim have a back window defroster? I dont see the little lines going across.

IIRC the last Yaris I rented had a very ez hatch device. I certainly don't remember using a key each time. I do like my Rabbits that have the option to leave the hatch unlocked and just push the button.

I am planning to add some 12v servos to rear hatch latches on my passat wagons (that seldom work as planned).

I would be certain that rear window defroster is std. (I think it is a safety req). I haven't seen anything w/o defrost since 1970's.

BTW, I really like the Yaris' that I rent (even tho I'm spoiled with my 50 mpg VWs since 1976). At least the Yaris has a decent tank / economy / range. I WISH I could rent a Yaris with a manual tranny, I have a tough time with auto, as I do lots of mtn driving and dislike using brakes (harmful dust )

I have had cars from the 90s, and I think the 2000 without rear defrost.

Does the OP realize the Yaris is perhaps Toyota's worst car? Consumer Reports gives it very low ratings even though it is reliable.

Spend a bit more and buy a Fit to get a vastly better car. You can also buy a manual transmission.

Yup!
The only real strength of a Yaris is its reliability.
Its driving dynamics, comfort, and performance are...not very good.
