There's a risk of tornadoes overnight tonight and early in the morning in southern New England.

6 tornadoes confirmed on October 12, including an EF-2 in Arkansas that caused 1 fatality and 4 injuries.

22 tornadoes now confirmed on October 13.

An EF-2 was confirmed in West Monroe, Louisiana on Oct 13. University of Louisiana at Monroe cancelled classes Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning due to storm damage (although that damage may not have been caused by a tornado).

I think once we get out of this cold trend we will see an uptick in Tornado activity. Given that its been a relatively cool year for the US there hasn't been much in the way of fuel. If the models stick with the same trend for this year in to next then we will likely see a smaller number of Tornadoes during prime time again next year.

I tend to do some climatology and and comparisons with the Tornado History Project to outline what I would think I'd see in my immediate area.

EF-2 in Florida panhandle. Fortunately not a dense area so no injuries.

NWS: EF 2 tornado hits Florida Panhandle prison

Amazing that 2014 may end up with record low # of tornadoes, but yet still don’t hear that in news.
