I am trying to help my parents find a place to retire in the Hill Country area but I am having a hard time finding a place and deciding on a town. They want to rent a condo/townhouse/apartment because they are sick of the upkeep of a house and yard. They don't need special care but would like to be around people their age. (70's) They could buy but only if it were affordable and the neighborhood association took care of the yard. I have found several over 55 apartment buildings in San Marcos but they require you to make less than a certain amount per year and my parents are just over the line. I would really appreciate any suggestions for middle class, active, lake and river loving old people to live in a building, complex, or area anywhere affordable and still nice in the Hill Country. Please help me!

Maybe Sun City near Georgetown? Actually I think it's closer to Lake Travis.

Some of my parents retired to Kerrville a few years ago and they love it and have an active life up there with the small college there. They still however love to go to San Antonio and Austin all the time.

I have lived in the hill country and it really is very nice. expensive. there is kerrville where there are alot of retirees. i worked at Peterson hospital and the retirees did alot of volunteer work there. It's a nice place to retire. Fredricksburg is great too. It's a little german town. I still enjoy going there. its got alot of charm.

Default Retire in Eagle Mountain Reserve

There's a new master-planned community on Lake Buchanan called Eagle Mountain Reserve. This would be a great place to retire. If you want more information, visit: Texas Lake Real Estate & Texas Waterfront Property At Eagle Mountain Reserve

Kerrville is very nice. Also new braunfels is nicxe. Both have excellent medical facilities .That's one thing you need to consider at their age becuase alot of the hill country is very old small town many with no hospital within 30 miles. many just have medical clinics.New braunfels has two river going thru it that are great for rafting.Google kerrville and new braunsfels,TX and you should find alot of infomation. I know NB chamber has a very nice book they will seen. Has alot of info on retirement loiving as I remember.
