Hello everyone. My fiance and I are considering moving to Amarillo in the near future. We really love it out there. I have some questions about the area. If you can answer any of them I would greaty appreciate it.

1. What are the property taxes like out there? We are looking to purchase a house for around $150,000 cash.

2. What are insurance rates like out there, car and home.

We have heard a lot of conflicting things about taxes out there from there.

Thanks for any info!

Amarillo is divided into two counties......Potter Co and Randall Co. I believe the rates are different for the two, so you need to know where you'll be living before you can get an exact answer. I'm sure the county websites can give you the info you need.

I loved living in that area.......hope it works out well for you.

Hope I can help somewhat. We had purchased a home in that same price range on almost 2 acres and our property taxes are under $2500. However, we also live out in the county so that makes a lot of difference. A house in town will cost you a lot more.

Insurance rates were higher than what we were used to, but not bad.

We had heard lots of horrible things about taxes in Texas too. And there certainly are places where they just seem to be ridiculous, but there are also a lot of places where they are not so bad. All in all, Amarillo is a really wonderful place and the people are super friendly! We have never had any regrets about moving here!

Ive lived in Amarillo since 2003, It's a great place to live, raise kids, enjoy life! Prices are reasonable and insurance is low! If you need a place to stay while you shop around, contact me, I have a hotel in town!
