Without a doubt its the hill country that appeals to those whp retire in Tewxas by far and some of the lakes region of east texas.

It's also the state in the nation with the highest homeowner's insurance rates, quite high utilities, and very high and miserable summer temperatures.

During the winter here in deep south texas we get the influx of "Winter Texans", old retired folk, from all over the country, increases the population by about 20% (and the number of accidents)

but TX has no state income tax and if you are living out of an RV you don't pay property tax
