My dh and I are in the process of relocating to East Texas; dh will work out of Nacogdoches. We have four children 7yrs old and younger and would like to find out about the better area to live and commute from if dh is working in Nacogdoches? Thanks!

Nacogdoches is a nice little town. You should be fine there, especially if your white.

Hands down Nacogdoches. I went to college there.
I am African American and it is predominantly white, but I still felt it was a nice town.
Lufkin has a little bit more in the way of shops and a bigger mall.

I have lots of family that live in Lufkin and I prefer Nac to Lufkin.

I'd rather raise kids in Lufkin.

Either city would be a good choice. When it comes to shopping and dining you will find more options in Lufkin. Lufkin is also closer to Houston. Nac has SFA, which is an excellent university. Nac is also very pretty, and is quite historical.

I'd pick Nacogodoches. I'm currently attending at SFA and it is a great university with about 12,000 students attending there which occupies probably about 1/3 of the city population. See if you can take your kids to Central Heights ISD, I heard it is much better than Nacogdoches ISD especially the high school.

Not to mention your kids, while growing up in Nac, will learn that punctuation and run-on phrasing with gross incoherence is an evil thing and only clouds the meaning of a statement .
