I am thinking about relocating to the dallas area, and working in garland or grapevine area, what are the areas like to live in, nice rental apt, that are within 600 to 750 a month, safe, not in a flooding area, or do i need to move in some other better area i will be working at the baylor hospital, i don't like doing a lot of interstate driving...

If you'll be at Baylor Dallas and don't want a long commute, Garland will be a LOT closer than Grapevine!!

And should be able to find newish very nice apartments within their price range. Could even avoid driving on a highway by going surface streets if so desired.

My daughter works at The Gaylord Texan and she wanted to live in Grapevine....no way! The apartments there are super expensive...she found a really nice safe place in Euless....but Grapevine prices are costly for a new college graduate!

lyndacarter there are plenty of apartments in your price range in the N Irving Valley Ranch area. Only 3-5 miles from Grapevine.

Grapevine is waay nicer & a lot more safe than Garland. You simply can't compare the two.

I lived in Garland, and had a relative living in Grapevine for awhile... as far as general "feel" of the two places, for the most part they are the same as any of the other DFW burbs -- Strip malls, shopping, movie theatres, highways, subdivisions, and a lake nearby.

Garland is much, much bigger though -- like over 200K people compared to 50K or so in Grapevine. Being that large, there are good and bad areas, and a lot of it is older... so you need to be more careful selecting a neighborhood within Garland. There is less crime in Grapevine. However, Garland is closer to a lot of things to do in Dallas, employment areas such as the hospitals and Telecom corridor, and there are nicer areas to the N and NE. I'd say most of where you want to get to will be closer to Garland, and you can avoid highways if you want. Grapevine is close to the airport if you travel a lot, but you will probably need to do a lot of highway driving to get to places in Dallas.
