I am going to be working in the area till Dec. Would anyone know of a place to stay? I will be working 6, 10 hour days. I am a inspector. I will have a motorcycle and pick-up. I would like to find a couple with a room to rent or a small furnished apartment where my motorcycle will be safe. Any help would be appreciated. Thank

If you haven't posted your inquiry on the Houston forum, you might do so.....it's not far from Orange and you might find more people who could advise you.

In Orange, really no problem. Just be careful what neighborhood you stay in.

The traffic in that area of texas is really getting bad with all the indutrial construction going on. But the good thing is that altho theyy have huge parking lots there are so many workers with alot more to come in the coming years that the companies have started a satellite parking lot system for about a fifty square mile area and have bueses that pickup and take workers to their jobs sites. They have a unbelieveable number of buses. Also TX DOT has redone almost all highways in the area to help and is still ungrading toher stil;l. As to housing you might want to check with oyur employer as housing is tight in the area now.

You might want to consider Bridge City or Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Orange is pretty rough.

Don't count on it, as it's 110+ miles away on average, 140 miles from the outer west fringes

from: houston tx to: orange tx - Google Maps

Most people here couldn't tell you anything about Orange.

A popular misconception that shows up in here sometimes is that Houston and the Golden Triangle are very close to each other.

Thanks for the replies,

Bridge City, Little Cypress, Mauriceville, I will check these city out. I would like to stay in a small town. What's across the river(LA)? What should I expect to pay? I just need some thing small and secure.

Vinton, LA is just across the river, but be advised that as a resident of Louisiana you will pay a state income tax, in Texas you won't. Check this out before you move. Almost all housing is very affordable, and a bargain compared to other areas. BC or LC-M will be good places to go.
