They won't be stealing from Houston.
The port expansion and highway improvements have only spurred growth. Walmart and Home Depot are just two examples of growth related to these expansions.

Dallas may fear losses, but we are gaining. Memphis and Indianapolis may gain too, but do what? Houston is gaining too

The Dallas people are starting to act like the Atlanta posters and that's NOT a good thing.

In essence, all Texas will be doing is strengthening other cities and states commerce and infrastructure IMO by basically giving them a direct access to Mexico.

This thinking is wrong on so many levels. Did I-35 merely benefit Oklahoma and Kansas and so on ? You are desperately grabbing at straws trying to reason why this Interstate is not good for Texas. It is great for Texas, it will allow products destined for export to get to port quicker. It will allow Brownsville and McAllen to become larger ports of Entry, and take some of the load off Laredo. It will be great for Corpus Christi, and it will link the two biggest export ports in Texas, Laredo and Houston not to mention all the East Texas towns along present day US 59.

Allowing goods and services to flow more freely across state lines is what the Interstate system was designed to do. There may be some cities that benefit more than others , but in the end we will all be better off, with more commerce and more tax revenue generated for all the states involved. I can't believe you would want to be a stick in the mud on this. Like Lee Iococca used to say , lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Dallas posters are just fearing the idea of the 69 corridor booming like the 35 corridor has.

Fearing some healthy competition Dallas?

They are not as bad as the Dallas people.

Please your just jealous because your town is not a part of the booming I 35 corridor. I 69 will be built but it will never compete with the I 35 corridor.

I don't know why. Dallas is good in its own right. Let Houston be great.

Oh my, the hostility. How can anyone put down I-69? Hwy 59 is near freeway standards most of the way. It's not even a new route, just a new name.

It will get done in our lifetimes (I'm 21).
Take vitamins, drink plenty of water and exercise... The Texas portion alone for the I-69 project is valued at over $16 billion, with a B.

From an article dated Jan 22, 2013:
Quote:
The prospects for a completed I-69 are falling apart not only in Indiana but also in Tennessee and possibly in other states.

As this article shows [see Citing Lack of Funds,Tennessee Calls Off $1.5 Billion Highway Project], Tennessee is done with I-69. Neither Kentucky nor Indiana have money to build the new bridge over the Ohio River, and Indiana has run out of money to complete the highway to Indianapolis. It is important to remember that many of the presumed economic benefit of I-69 are based on a completed Canada to Mexico route and, in Indiana, on a completed Evansville to Indy route. Neither route is likely to be completed any time in the near future, if ever.
