Errata:

1. Shiner/Spoetzl offerings are typically OK to solid but not great. However, its Oktoberfest/Marzen is my favorite Shiner offering by a lot. It might fall into the excellent category if it were 6.3/6.5% or so ABV instead of 5.7%. A little more alcohol would sweeten the brew just a little. That said bigger breweries virtually always produce beers that would be better with a bit more alcohol and they do sol mostly for cost reasons.

2. St. Arnold's Oktoberfest is better. At 6.6% ABV and with a more clear indication of Saaz hops.

I'm in Dallas for three weeks and may venture to Austin......any Oktoberfests that I should seek out?

I don’t like a lot of St Arnold but I agree on their Oktoberfest being top notch. Their pumpkinator comes out in as few weeks as well. that one is great.

Thanks. I'll seek out at least one Pumpkinator.

St Arnold's Octoberfest is great as is Live Oak Brewing's offering.

I also dig the Octoberfest put out by Eureka Heights Brewing in Houston.
