Williamson county north of Austin is very conservative. Georgetown is nice; a lovely downtown square, lots of businesses, restaurants, good medical available at the local St David's, Scott and White and Seton hospitals. There are a couple of Scott and White clinics and enough physicians in private practice to serve the retirees from the Sun City and several other over-55 developments. The surrounding area is more rural where you could find large lots or even acreage. Prices are increasing as the influx of people from other states puts pressure on housing stock. Ou may wish to contact a buyer's broker here to help you assess whether this area would work for you.

Politically, no other state shifted further into the Democratic column in the last election than Texas. Voter suppression has slowed the inevitability of the demographic creep but the reality is Texas is a young state and young people here are overwhelmingly Democrats, especially in cities that are growing. When they start voting(something that happens as people age) the state will shift.
Thank you jackalope48 for your cordial response.

Just looking at several responses especially from the Austin area doesn't surprise me. It would be interesting to see in the past 10 years where your migration has come from. I seriously doubt if the old hard working Texans were part of the new progressive give me a handout leftists.

I like others became interested in Texas after watching HGTV's Fixer Upper, I guess when they came under attack regarding their religion from the intolerant left that should of been a clue. So glad they and their viewers fought back.

Well..I will be interested to see what other responses I receive.

I just love seeing the radical leftists come unglued at the mention of TRUMP

Hi Mark...thanks!

Not to bore you with our lives, we fled San Diego back in 2002 after starting to see the blight of liberalism start. Taxes, living costs and traffic started to rise and my husband wished to retire. So we headed to Virginia seeking slower way of life, more freedoms, beautiful land plus family and friends were near.

Family brought us back and forth several times. We considered Boise this last time however it did not appeal to my husband. Interesting though my brother in law suggested Texas however the unknown was over ridden by coming back to Arizona which we were in 10 years ago.

So here we are, the blight is growing undeterred, out of control government officials, resources being squandered or given away while they pad their pockets. Downtown streets and parks littered with homeless which use public areas for their personal hygiene. Such a shame...this area was truly beautiful. The college...don't get me started, total snowflakes. I can't even think of a city run by liberals which is not in the tank financially or ethically.

Which part of Texas do you reside in?

If you desire freedom in the Hill Country, there are many nice small towns, (nice place to rec-create /retire without the tornadoes and humidity of much of TX). (still too hot for me in summer.... liberal PNW or AK serves as summer escape and a chance to fill the freezer with salmon and fresh berries

Bandera, Comfort, Kerrville, Ingram are still affordable and 1hr to SAT or 1.2 hrs to AUS (airports). yet all very close to great venues and entertainment and recreation of Fredericksburg, Boerne, Wimberley, Dripping Springs. EZ to go to Austin or San Antonio for events and travel hubs.

As a retiree, I prefer to be near a college town for events and speakers and diverse economy.

Several decent medical centers within 30-45 min.

Great fishing and golf, as well as trails and camping (Texas' recreation hub and lot of summer camps)
The woman's ministry at church has "Ladies Day at the gun range" held frequently.

Hi Tyler in East Texas. You can look at the Tyler sub-forum for much information.

I won't repeat all the "stuff" on Tyler here, many people have heard enough, already, lol. Tyler information, has been a 50 year "hobby" of mine, lol

But email me directly, as many have done, if you like I have much details, no Tyler is not UTOPIA, I try to be at least somewhat objective, I will "share" the downsides of Tyler as well. Glad to help if I can.

People like you are exactly what we need here. As others have said, the metro areas will be plagued with leftists. Most of the suburbs and exurbs are still pretty conservative though.
