This was a cool site where you could punch in your zip and see where the sites are. Evidently, according to this map, there is one directly north of Hutto. Anyone know about that particular site and it's history?

Is that site accurate? I cannot seem to find where or what it is.

They list every site that has ever been identified as hazardous. Some of those sites have already been cleaned up and are no longer considered hazardous and may have been redeveloped by now. The site you are concerned about may be one of those..

The only one near me is the old RSR lead smelter in west Dallas. It's been gone for decades, and major cleanup was already completed.

That map does not show one near Hutto. The closest one is up by Belton, 38 miles away. Rockwool Industries, it is described as completed since March, 1998.

When I was a kid, I played next to a chemical plant that would later become a superfund site (Lowe Chemical at the time, now know usually as Brio Refining).

Yes, it is often mentioned in our family...

Btw, a fictional book was written loosely based on events and the town shortly after the plant closed down:

No idea if it is any good.
