The State Fair of Texas was originally held in Houston from 1871 through 1878. Why is this unacknowledged?

So, Houston lost the State Capitol and the State Fair?

Lost the capital, but the fair was apparently discontinued because of a huge outbreak of yellow fever and economic depression in 1879. After that, there was no interest until seven years later in Dallas.

Just thought it was odd that the largest annual event in Dallas was a Houston thing first, but there is no acknowledgement of this. It would sort of be like people in Austin claiming that we didn't have a capital until it arrived in Waterloo.

Youre getting too sensitive man. What do you propose? A big banner at the entrance saying "Originally in Houston"?

Hum...I thought the State fair started in 1886 and was sold to Dallas around 1887-1888? I mean ya, the State was started and held Houston for 1-2 years but it's been held in Dallas the last 125 years?

Who cares. The original Texans football team started in Dallas, doesn't mean they have to bow-down and hail their state rival.

1886 is the year that the private association that organizes the state fair was chartered. So no, there is no acknowledgement on the current state fair's behalf of a completely different event that happened in a completely different city that happened to share the same name (but never at the same time). That doesn't sound odd to me at all.
